I have always loved taking pictures. When I discovered the world of digital photography, I found I was in my element. My son gave me my first digital camera about eight years ago. It sat on the top of my computer and stayed connected to my computer. I continued to use my camera with film in it to take photographs away from my computer. A couple of years later for Mother’s Day he upgraded my digial camera and that’s when I fell in love with digial photography. Everybody runs now when they see me coming. They know I always have my camera with me and I’m going to try to take their picture. I live in Georgia and I love taking pictures of Georgia.

My first greeting card was designed on an Apple II in college, creating multi-color cards involved using different colored ribbons on a dot-matrix Imagewriter. Greeting cards have come a long way since the 80's, and I welcome the opportunity to share my designs with customers from around the world. Studying for my master's degree in history sparked my interest in the diverse languages and alphabets of the world, and I enjoy the challenge of designing cards for the global population.

Binary Cards is comprised of the creative stylings of Stephanie Brooks and the computer know-how of Jason Dawson. Stephanie Brooks received a degree in art from the chilly Midwest. After many years of terrible one liner jokes and making her friends and family special occasion cards, she decided to combine her talents and bring them to the masses. (At the very least, to find a brave few who would laugh with her at her own jokes.) Jason Dawson is a graphic designer out of the D.C. area with terrific computer skills and a rather astute entrepreneurial know- how. He is in charge of a vast number of tech-savvy details. Working together, we are a team producing a formidable mass of cuteness and wit. We hope to hear from you soon!

For most of my life, I spent time hurting myself and others, by using drugs and committing moral and legal crimes. It didn't start out that way, and, this is not true for me today. But, I spent many years in prison for those choices. When I was young, I often visited museums, libraries and art galleries. These are some of my fondest memories from my early years. My creative and artistic side was always there, but I ignored it. I was also in and out of bad marriages, other toxic relationships, false churches, minimum wage and part-time jobs, drug houses, hospitals, detox, jails, and prisons. I alienated everyone. It was after this last criminal spree and during my incarceration that I discovered some information that felt so profound, and still does. It is the knowledge that Jesus was more than a beautiful fairytale. At the same time, while I was in prison, I began drawing little sketches for the other women to send to their kids, family and friends. I wasn't very good at drawing, but I seemed to be able to color the drawings so as to cover my mistakes. (I remember I was always pretty good at coloring. I won a coloring contest when I was at my Step-Dad's company picnic as a child of about 8 or so.) After I had been in prison about 5 years, I took an Adobe Illustrator class, but was not very disciplined and dropped out. When I came back from prison I bought a computer and Adobe software hoping to make a website and maybe “make money from home.” This didn't happening. I got sick and live on social security now. In fact, I live in a little room without a bathroom. It's down the hall, and I share it with other poor and formerly homeless or imprisoned people who live in my builidng. I have no "stuff" to speak of. The room is furnished, but I have some clothes, bedding, and housewares. I also have an HD tv and antenna, a phone, computer, tiny refrigerator, and my sweet cat Lucy. I am at peace, and don't want or need much more than this. I hope for e ...

I live in the small town of Wimberley, Texas where deer roam freely in my back (and front) yard. Right now there are probably three cats at my back door looking for a hand out - and they will get it. This store is dedicated to my cat Katy, who recently passed away.

JJ
Photography and me. Early on I had an interest in photography, starting with a 35mm Instamatic camera. Mainly used for family events and vacations. Later on moved to the Pentax K1000, which served me, well through school. I was fortunate to work on the newspaper staff for school. I had my own darkroom and studio equipment. Most of my work at that time was in black & white. I was nominated for several awards including quill and scroll the highest award you could get for student journalism. I had just created a series of scenery photos of the creek near by where I lived at the time. My style was and still is greatly influenced by the greats like Ansel Adams. My portfolio was born. I took a break from photography and pursued other interest. I started working with graphic design and computers. Not sure how it all came about, I was asked to show my scenery photo's which I did. After the showing I was asked to work on several different projects from print ads, presentations and directory photo's. Current day, I have gone digital. Have a great day.
